I am fascinated by the ginkgo tree. My introduction to this tree was unfortunate as it involved stepping on the rare ginkgo berry and spending the rest of the day searching for the source of the odor! When I learned of the source, I also learned to recognize the leaf of the tree and keep an eye out for berries in my path. Whenever I was around ginkgo trees, I kept a close eye on the ground; and I got to know the leaf!
The more I watched it, the more it fascinated me. The veins in the leaf fan out evenly instead of branching in multiple directions. In the autumn, they turn a lovely golden color and all rain from the tree together - like a planned migration from branch to ground. These ginkgo earrings are a tribute to the tree and leaf that made a less than desirable first impression on me but continues to amaze me.
