The Ojibwe people originally constructed dream catchers by tying sinew strands in a web around a small round or tear-shaped frame of willow. They would hang them over the beds of sleeping children to protect them from nightmares. Only the good dreams could get through. Bad dreams would be caught in the web and disappear with the light of day.
I was intrigued by the geometry of the web produced by the weaving pattern and decided to base an earring design on it.
